We provide a treatment called Mandibular Advancement Splints for both Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and Snoring.

Sleep apnoea is a serious medical condition that occurs when a person stops breathing while asleep, sometimes up to 50 or 60 times per hour.

These breathing interruptions are known as Sleep Apnoea. This occurs when the airway narrows so much that it closes.

If untreated Sleep Apnoea is linked to many medical conditions and must be taken seriously.

Mandibular Advancement

Mandibular Advancement Splints (MAS) are customised mouth pieces made for each patient to be worn at night time to treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea. Modern devices permit the lower jaw to be advanced in a gradual manner and so not only improve their action but also help the patient to adapt more gradually to them. They are now Nationally and Internationally recognized in the management of obstructive sleep apnoea.

One of our consultants at Billericay Orthodontics, Dr Ama Johal is regarded as a National and International expert in the field of Mandibular Advancement Splints, having completed a PhD in the field.

He is an invited lecturer both Nationally and Internationally and has been awarded numerous research and clinical prizes for his work.
